This Privacy Policy explains how Try This Teaching, operated by Amjad Ali in the United Kingdom, collects, uses, stores and shares personal information in connection with the Try This Teaching website, training services and the TA CPD Hub.
This Privacy Policy should be read alongside our Terms and Conditions, Cookie Policy, Right to be Forgotten information and, for schools, academies, multi-academy trusts and other institutional customers, the applicable Data Processing Agreement.
Try This Teaching is operated by Amjad Ali in the United Kingdom.
Depending on the service being provided, our data-protection role differs:
Depending on how you use our services, we may process:
We do not store raw payment card numbers, card security codes or full card credentials in the TA CPD Hub. Electronic payment processing is handled by Stripe.
We process personal data only where an appropriate lawful basis applies. Depending on the context this may include:
We process information needed to provide subscriptions, TA CPD Hub access, training, invoices, account management, support and other services requested from us.
We retain and process certain financial and transaction records where this is necessary to meet accounting, tax and other legal obligations.
We may process limited information where necessary for the secure and effective operation of our website and services, fraud/security prevention, service administration, responding to enquiries and maintaining appropriate business records, provided those interests are not overridden by the rights and interests of the individual.
We rely on consent where required, including for marketing subscriptions and non-essential cookies/analytics technologies. Consent may be withdrawn at any time.
For school/Trust staff data processed by us as processor, the subscribing organisation determines the relevant lawful basis as controller. We process that information on the controller’s documented instructions unless otherwise required by UK law.
The TA CPD Hub is a WordPress/LearnDash-based professional development platform. Hub data is used to provide and administer learning, including account access, School/Trust management, CPD assignments, learning progress, quizzes, Learning Time, completion reporting, certificates, Reflection Journals, resources and related analytics.
School and Trust administrators may be able to view information about staff associated with their organisation, such as assigned CPD, progress, completion information, Learning Time and quiz-related reporting, according to their authorised role.
The Hub is not designed to require pupil-identifiable information or special-category personal data. Users should not enter identifiable pupil, safeguarding or health information into Reflection Journals, notes or other free-text areas unless their organisation has specifically authorised this and has an appropriate lawful basis.
WooCommerce is used to administer orders and subscriptions. The website may retain normal customer/order information such as name, organisation, contact details, billing address, order details, payment method and transaction references.
Electronic payments are processed through Stripe. Raw card numbers and card security codes are not retained in the TA CPD Hub database.
Institutional customers may also pay by invoice or another agreed payment arrangement.
The TA CPD Hub is hosted with AllHost / AH CLOUD Ltd on UK-based server infrastructure.
Technical administration and support is provided by authorised personnel at Try This Teaching and its contracted technical provider, Silvertoad.
The site uses Cloudflare for services including DNS, traffic delivery and website/security protection. Cloudflare may process network and request information such as IP addresses and security events.
Transactional website email is relayed through Microsoft 365 / Exchange Online Protection using TLS.
We use technical and organisational controls intended to protect personal information, including HTTPS/TLS in transit, individual user accounts, role-based access controls, restricted administrative access, security monitoring and software maintenance.
The platform is backed up through the hosting environment. Backup copies may contain personal data until they expire through the normal backup-retention cycle and are used for continuity/restoration purposes.
Google Analytics may be used through Google Site Kit to understand use of the website. Non-essential analytics cookies or similar technologies are subject to the website’s consent controls and should only operate where the required consent has been provided.
Further details about cookies, analytics and preference controls are provided in our Cookie Policy.
LearnDash learning analytics are primarily generated from information held within the hosted TA CPD Hub platform and are separate from Google Analytics website statistics.
Zoom may be used to provide live webinars. The TA CPD Hub normally provides a meeting/join link rather than automatically sending the Hub learner database to Zoom.
Where a user chooses to join a Zoom meeting, Zoom will process information supplied or generated when attending the meeting in accordance with its own applicable privacy terms.
Where you choose to join a marketing/newsletter list, we rely on consent and provide an unsubscribe mechanism.
Mailchimp may be used as an email marketing service provider. Marketing records may include an email address, name, subscription date/time and technical information associated with subscription and engagement.
Withdrawing marketing consent does not affect service emails that are necessary to administer an existing account, order or subscription.
Depending on the service used, personal data may be processed by providers including:
We do not sell personal data.
Core TA CPD Hub hosting is located in the United Kingdom. Some supporting technology providers operate internationally and may process limited personal data outside the UK.
Where a restricted transfer is made, an appropriate UK data-protection transfer mechanism is used where required, such as UK adequacy regulations, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, the UK Addendum to approved Standard Contractual Clauses, or another lawful safeguard.
We keep personal data only for as long as it is reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it is processed, taking account of legal, contractual, security and operational requirements.
For School/Trust Hub accounts, staff account and learning data is retained while needed to provide the service and for an appropriate post-termination period to support account closure, export requests and lawful controller instructions. It is then deleted or anonymised unless continued retention is required by law or an applicable Data Processing Agreement.
Financial, invoice, order and transaction records may be retained for at least six years where required for UK accounting, VAT, tax or legal purposes.
Personal data contained in routine backups may remain until the relevant backup copy expires under the backup-retention schedule, after which it is removed through the normal backup cycle. Backup data is intended for disaster recovery rather than routine live use.
Where Try This Teaching acts as processor, the applicable Data Processing Agreement and the controller’s lawful instructions take precedence where appropriate.
Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law provides rights including:
These rights are not absolute and may be subject to legal exemptions.
If you are using the TA CPD Hub through your employer, school or Trust, that organisation is normally the controller for your staff data. You may therefore wish to contact your organisation first. You may also contact us and, where we act as processor, we will assist the controller as required.
The right to erasure under the UK GDPR is also commonly known as the Right to be Forgotten. Requests relating to deletion of personal data may be sent to info@trythisteaching.com. We may need to verify identity and/or liaise with the relevant school/Trust where that organisation is the controller.
Some information cannot be erased immediately where retention is required by law, for example certain financial transaction records.
Further information is available on our Right to be Forgotten page.
If you are concerned about our handling of personal information, please contact us first so that we can investigate.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO): https://ico.org.uk/
We may update this Privacy Policy when our services, providers, technology or legal obligations change. The latest version will be published on our website with an updated revision date.
