Learning Zones

Resources: Posters stuck up in each corner of the room? How It Works: When a teacher has set a task and activity has been completed; to check on the understanding of the students, how about you ask them to move to the learning zone that reflects their level of understanding…? One corner- red smiley One corner- yellow smiley One corner- green smiley One corner/TEACHERS DESK- Purple/Turquoise (Any colour!!)
  • Red- Do not understand
  • Yellow- I am OK-ish
  • Green- I am confident and able
  • TEACHERS DESK- STUDENT IS CONFIDENT TO EXPLAIN/ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS TO THE CLASS? Particularly good for pushing your gifted and talented students?

The stations above can be referenced via levels/grades. Some students may not feel confident in getting up and moving to a zone- especially if they do not understand- thats why it is important to embed this self reflection style of activity into your learning.
