Once you have looked at the national picture…

The national data gives us context, but the more useful questions are about what happened for our students.

Which subjects performed particularly strongly?

Where are the gaps?

Are there differences between groups of students?

Were there particular questions, topics or assessment objectives that caused difficulties?

Where did students outperform expectations?

And, most importantly, what are we going to do differently as a result?

That’s where post-exam analysis becomes useful. Not simply producing another spreadsheet, but identifying what we should keep, change or stop doing.
