What to do:

After the MASSIVE success of a Big #ShareRamadan day in 2020, 2021 and 2022 lots of people have been in touch to ask if they can also get involved again for 2023!

With Ramadan now fast approaching, I was hoping to put together, another BIG SHARE RAMADAN event on__________

If you would like to get involved in the next BIG #ShareRamadan then you will need to do the following and use the information below to help guide you! This is not about having a religion or wanting to get involved in religion of any sort!

Firstly sign up here via this Google Doc, so we can keep track of who’s involved and so that we can check in on you!

Secondly, here are the details about the process:

You will need to wake up before the sun rises, this is around 4.30am. You will need to give yourself enough time to eat and drink. (You do not need to eat or drink, but it is advised. Getting up is an important part of the process, as after we close our fast, it is time for the first of the five prayers of the day.

Use this website for some suggestions as to what would be good to eat at this time. This is often called Sehri. Before going back to bed, give yourself some reflection time.

Ramadan is NOT just about abstaining from food and drink!

Then, you’ll spend the day without eating, drinking, telling any lies, backbiting, gossiping etc.

For your evening meal, known as Iftar, use this website to check what time you can open your fast. As this is dependent on your geographical location. It will be around 6.10-6.15pm!

Check out some recipes you can make!

Finally, check in with us using the hashtag #ShareRamadan and consider the following; Ramadan is a month long, your colleagues, friends and students have to maintain their daily activities and routines whilst abstaining from food and drink. Fasting as a one off, is actually quite easy, your body can fight one day off, maintaining lack of food and water runs your body into fatigue and can crash!
