Creative writing

Resources:

Use this grid here
Print onto A3 or larger for best effect.

What to do:

This activity is another one of the popular Roll a series… click here for all other posts!

Students should be given one or two dice. They roll the dice to get their first and second number.
They then count up and along the grid to get their visual prompt for their creative writing. They should then roll again to get their ‘language feature’ prompt.

You could edit the grid to have one grid with all visual stimulus in and one grid with all language features in.
Or a visual stimulus with a particular language feature underneath it.

Variations:

Create bespoke/personal grids for students- based on their ability/interests.
