What to do:

  1. Organise an evening where you invite all Parents/Carers in Year 11 to attend school for 1 hour.
  2. Ask them to bring their child with them.
  3. Set up your school hall with classroom desks.
  4. On the desks have pens, pencils, note sheets, and highlighters.
  5. Direct parents to sit with their child.
  6. Load up the PowerPoint I have shared- personalise it- add your logo etc
  7. Run through the info.
  8. Break up each slide with tasks such as, ask the students to summarise what you have said.
  9. Ask parents to take notes on their actions- then highlight their actions only.
  10. Take feedback from the parents on what their children have summarised.
  11. Keep providing useful advice and guidance, breaking up with more discussions between parents/carers and the children.
  12. Take questions.
  13. Thank everybody for coming.
  14. Remind them of your provisions- such as Period 6, Revision Guide purchasing, Knowledge Organisers, Subject Specific revision videos and so on.

Check out my associated posts such as Flashy Flashcards here.

Do you have to wait until Year 11? Could this be earlier? Is what you’re saying, what your colleagues are saying?
